Merry Xmas - New Floors

I have been too busy to post this last week and a half as we just got our hardwood floors refinished and hardwood laid in our family room. I would have uploaded before pictures but our carpet was so gross I would have been embarrassed. Merry Christmas to us! This was not cheap but worth every penny.

Next will be all new furniture centered around our new rug. I can't wait!

And we got to see the most beautiful sunset tonight and fireworks last night so that definitely brightened the day.

Last weekend

We had a busy weekend last weekend. My brother-in-law Joe came to town from Florida to be part of the surprise for my Mother-in-law, Rose's, 60th birthday part. Friday we got our first snow of the year and then we had to get ready for the party. Joe made his grandmother's enchiladas and I made flautas the morning of the party. I then took Rose and Dakota to the spa for a massage while everyone set up for the surprise.

Rose said she knew something was going on because of my texting but I don't really thing she did. The next morning we took Joe to the airport and Jose was wiped from all the events. It was a lot of fun and really good to see family we hadn't seen in a while but I'm glad it's over, I'm tired!

Amazing

I thought this Presidential race was going to last forever! I am so happy that the Democrats are back in office and that my friend's brother will finally be Secret Service to the President! Go Obama.

Girl's Night Out

I have had two very diserved girl's nights out in the last five days. Anna and I had a great time at the new wine bar across the street from where we live and then finished the night at my favorite Irish pub Landsdown Arms. There was some amazing live music and a guy painting to the music.
Last night I had a minor melt down so Kara came to the rescue and we went over to another bar across the street for some fun and then had an awesome dance party USA at my house. I do think Ellen is right, sometimes you just have to dance!

Happy Fall

I can't believe it is almost November. I have really been getting into fall this year, not sure why but I found all this great gords and corn for my kitchen table.

Craft fair time has begun as well and I picked up these great coasters (with the dragonfly) and a dish made out of stain glass.

And my favorite purchase this fall is my Take a Bite Out of Crime t-shirt. We have a great store within walking distance Savvy and although everything is outrageously expensive, they have great sales and great t-shirts.

Working . . .

I wish I had some new exciting news to report but I feel like I work all the time. I just got back from Pueblo where I spent last night. I don't like driving much these days for those of you who know! I try to keep a low profile.

I am home now and getting sucked into Facebook. It's so weird to reconnect with all of my old friends. But I do love seeing all my girls from college there and all the pictures, especially Dana's dog Wally, he is too cute.

Big week . . .

I want to wish my husband a Happy 30th Birthday! We had a lot of fun last weekend celebrating and I'm just happy he is as old as I am for the next 5 months.

Go Buffs!

I went to the CU vs. West Virginia game last week and what an incredible win! I rushed the field for the first time of my life at 30 years old. It was really awesome because I got to go with my cousin who was in town from Virginia. We had an awesome time!! Hopefully we can beat Florida State this weekend.

GO BUFFS!!

Fall is approaching . . .

I am so busy at work these days it's hard to take time to blog. I traveled to Durango, Telluride and the Montrose last week and got fresh peaches and corn. I love this time of year and can't wait to make peach pie! And we have been seeing a lot of rainbows these days, I think that is my favorite gift from mother nature!

Go Buffs!!

The Rocky Mountain showdown was awesome last night (sorry Michelle!) I am so excited that CU football is back! You know it's fall.

Pool time . . .

This is the last weekend the pools are open. Despite the heat here this summer I am not yet ready for fall. I have to catch some final rays. Happy Labor Day weekend to all.

Lase Weekend

I took a long break and I wish I could tell you all everything that has been going on but it is tres personal. I hope you understand. Not only have I had a long year but this last month has been one of the most trying months of my life. I've survived but just barely. All of your friendships are so valuable to me you will never understand.

Last weekend I was in Keystone with Kara. It was a much needed vacation and I appreciate it so much. On Saturday night we went out to walk her dog to dinner and hit a huge thunderstorm. We went back to the condo and waited out the storm. The result is in the picture above. I so needed a weekend in the mountains!

DNC

So as you all might have heard, we have been busy this week in Denver with the Democratic National Convention. I tried to see some famous people last night at Hermans Hideaway but all I saw was a person murdered in the alley by a gun shot. How weird. JLo was here, Ben Afleck, Slick Rick, Biz Marqui, Jamie Fox, Susan Surandon, Annette Benning, Oprah Winfrey, Kanye West, Chris Rock, Charliez Theron, Jennifer Garner, Nick Cannon, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Quentin Terintino, Spike Lee, Jennifer Hudson and a bunch of other famous people not to mention politicians (they don't count!). There were some amazing speaches but a lot of chaos!

The Police

I went to The Police concert with Elvis Costello on Monday. My client really wanted to go and I am glad he drug me there, it was an awesome concert. I recommend it if they are coming to your town!

4th of July

I know I am a little behind but I wanted to share pictures from our 4th of July in Steamboat. My mom's side of the family all went so we could spread my grandparents ashes. It was a beautiful weekend (although hot) and we had a really good time.

Fun summer reads

I just finished reading The Devil in the Junior League and I recommend it as a fun, light-hearted summer read.
I also read Frangipani which takes place in Tahiti and is a wonderful book about mother's and daughters. It took about 50 or so pages to get into it but I am really glad I stuck with it.

Out of order . . .

I have been out of order for the last couple weeks. Nick finally got back from Hawaii just two days after someone or something shattered our patio table. I had to have my father-in-law come over to lattice in the deck so the puppies couldn't get underneath.

I am really glad June is over but the highlights were my niece's 8th birthday, nephew's 12th birthday and our 6th wedding anniversary. Nick bought me the cutest black, white and yellow bikini with matching board shorts from Hawaii.

My baby . . .

This is my peeking puppy who I love so much!! I really need kids soon!

BBQ

Last weekend I had friends over for a bbq and made this delicious salad! I'm not a big fan of nuts but these sweetened almonds are amazing. With Nick in Hawaii for soccer for 11 days I am eating all the food he refuses to try!

Happy Birthday!!

Happy birthday to Lara! And all the other June girls turning 30. What a big year. I got to spend some time with Lara yesterday in Colorado Springs which was awesome!

Yard Work

I think we finally completed all of our planting and yard last Saturday. Nick finished mowing our forest! We just have one more area of the yard we are hoping to get to before the end of the summer and then we are done!!

Flowers

I finally got all of my pots planted for the summer. All we have left to do is plant 6 more annuals and design the rock garden. I am even trying to have a mini garden with tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes, green, red and yellow bell peppers and cucumbers. Not sure how it will do but it is exciting to eat fresh food!
I will be very sad when we finally move out of this house after all of this work, I think I will be taking my Columbines with me!

Pink

If you have not heard the song Dear Mr. President by Pink and the Indigo Girls you should, it is amazing.

Check it out:

Summer reading

I would recommend Eat Pray Love and anything by Jodi Picoult for this summer.

Rock Star

If I had been doing a good job blogging this would have been posted on May 16th the day after Down Maddie's show at Buffalo Rose in Golden. This is the first show with new lead singer Leanne (you rock girl!!)

Yummy

This is the first year of the three years we have had a cherry tree that it is finally producing fruit. I can't wait to make a cherry pie (or tort if I don't get enough cherries!!)

Awwwwww . . .

I am so proud of the back area that Nick built me a few years ago. My fountain is up and running for the summer and my Columbines are growing like crazy. I can't wait to spend my nights in the backyard cooking and hanging out with family and friends this summer.

Been a while

Sorry it has been so long since my last post, I was in a nasty car accident on May 12 and have been fighting with the insurance company over my Jeep (which is still in the shop and we think should be scrapped) and I am in therapy for my back injuries. This year has just sucked and I can't wait for 2009.

Happy Mother's Day

A belated Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers or soon to be mother's! My family went to a wonderful brunch at Lone Tree. The food was amazing and eaten too quickly to take any pictures!

Summer purse

I like the idea of a nice light tote for the summer. I just ordered this one online at Old Navy. Thanks Sara for the idea!

The Marathon Runner

I have to send tribute to my girl Leanne for her marathon run this weekend in Fort Collins. It was a rough downhill course and the race started at the un-Godly hour of 6:00 am. Without really training Leanne did a monster run!

I commend you for all that work, it would definitely kill me!

30th Birthday Bash

I know this is a little out of order but I finally pulled some of my blurry birthday pictures off of my camera. Turning 30 was really difficult for me for some reason. I had been unemployed for the three months leading up to my birthday and waivered on whether or not I even wanted to celebrate. At the last minute I found a cute dress and decided that we would all go to Purple Martini. It was definitely worth it, I had a great time.

As you can tell by the camera men they were having a great time too. Sorry it is so blurry!

Memory Lane and turning 30

I have been taking a trip down memory lane these last few days and came across some great pictures from my bachelorette party I thought I should share. We have come along way in the last six years since these pictures were taken. It's exciting to think we are all entering the next phase of our lives with weddings, houses and babies.

Maybe our 30s will be even better than our 20s, we can only hope!
