First's. . .

This has been a week of first's for me:

First road trip by myself
First time staying in Canon City
First time buying clothes at WalMart
First time staying in Salida
First time drinking mini wine bottles
First time eating Veal
First time going to Moffat
First time a pop can exploded in my car
First time driving 285 South by myself

It's been a big week. I don't think I would trade it!

Livin Large . . .

So I got stuck in Canon City today but because I stayed in a Holiday Inn I can now mountain climb a 14er while performing brain surgery. I have successfully made it to Salida and since my Comfort Inn does not have a fitness center, I stopped at the liquor store for 4 mini bottles of wine and Pizza Hut for dinner. I am livin' large!

I also locked my keys in my Jeep while unloading my luggage and had to climb in through the back window (again, this is like the 3rd or 4th time!) in my suit to retrieve them. Thank God for zipper windows but my hands almost froze while trying to zip it back up in 3 degree weather.

And to think, I won't be home until Thursday night. Traveling for work within Colorado is so much different and more difficult than traveling to various states. I miss airports and airplanes! I did get some good pics I will share when I get home.

Snowy Day

So I am trying to get better about blogging. Right now I am sitting in a Holiday Inn Express in Canon City (yes where all the prisons are). I had enrollment meetings down here today and plan to go back to Denver tomorrow but the snow has decided to come in steady and strong. I am going to be very sad if I am stuck here tomorrow.

I would have posted pics but I don't have my cord to upload from my camera. I am incredibly busy at work (which is a good thing) and have several trips around Colorado planned this week and of course the weather sucks. Last week it was in the 60s and 70s! I miss my puppies and hope I can get out of here in the morning.

Dad's Birthday

Friday was my dad's birthday and we are celebrating tonight. We are doing our traditional fondue which I can't wait. Only issue is my doctor just put me on Prilosec OTC for my stomach issues and I think I am having more stomach issues now than I did before the drug. I really hope my tummy can handle rich fondue tonight because I love it so!

For my dad's birthday present I made him a scrapbook to house all of the concert tickets he and my mom collect. They love going to concerts and see several a year and his new hobbie is collecting all the tickets, now he can showcase them. I just included a few pages of the scrapbook. I will have to continue building on it every year for him.

Good reads . . .

I have just finished reading a book I highly recommend and it is a quick read. Made in the U.S.A. is by Billie Letts and about a brother and sister who end up homeless in Las Vegas but taken in by someone highly unlikely. Although it was graphic in the beginning it has wonderful ending.

I am currently reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. This exchange of letters in fiction and takes place just after World War II. It is an intersting perspective of the War from the people of Guernsey Island.

So far my book club list through May has some good books:
The Red Leather Diary: Reclaiming a Life Through the Pages of a Lost Journal - Lily Koppel
There's a (Slight) Chance I Might be Going to Hell - Laurie Notaro
Twighlight - Stephenie Meyer
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Mary Ann Schaffer and Annie Barrows
Merle's Door - Ted Kerasote

Happy New Year

So this is the second time I am posting this, my last sentence of the post was modern technology still baffles me and then my blog just refused to post. Case and point!

I am really looking forward to 2009 as 2008 was not a great year. I have been busy with work and family for the holidays but will be bloging much more frequently. I am currently playing with my new toys, an iPod and the Instinct phone which is similar to the iPhone. It has taken me a week to get my iPod loaded but I think I am close. I just want to use it in the gym, I am tired of my little one where I hear the same songs over and over!
